MB Book – Retrospective
Milena Bartlová, an acclaimed art theoretician, published a book called Retrospective, collecting her texts from the past 20 years of her career. Though not sorted chronologically, the year of their creation is essential. The placement of the texts on a timeline gave birth to a graph, which is an accompanying moment of the book. The big letter R is settled on imaginary mountains of the timeline – a retrospective standing over her lifes work.

The publication is set in serif fonts Larish Alter by Radim Peško and Rhymes by Jakub Samko. The footnotes are untraditionally the same size as the main font, because they are equals. For easier navigation through the picture material, we placed artwork thumbnails at the beginning of every chapter – this way they uncover the topic a bit, they lure the reader in, and the reader can later view them at the end of the chapter in bigger size.
